چکیده

In this paper, we obtain a forbidden-minor characterization of the class of binary gammoids M such that, for every pair of elements x, y of M, both the splitting matroid Mx,y and the element splitting matroid M ′ x,y are binary gammoids.

Infinite Gammoids: Minors and Duality

This sequel to Afzali Borujeni et. al. (2015) considers minors and duals of infinite gammoids. We prove that the class of gammoids defined by digraphs not containing a certain type of substructure, called an outgoing comb, is minor-closed. Also, we prove that finite-rank minors of gammoids are gammoids. Furthermore, the topological gammoids of Carmesin (2014) are proved to coincide, as matroids...

Cycle and circle tests of balance in gain graphs: Forbidden minors and their groups

We examine two criteria for balance of a gain graph, one based on binary cycles and one on circles. The graphs for which each criterion is valid depend on the set of allowed gain groups. The binary cycle test is invalid, except for forests, if any possible gain group has an element of odd order. Assuming all groups are allowed, or all abelian groups, or merely the cyclic group of order 3, we ch...

Classes of Gaussian, Discrete and Binary Representable Independence Models Have No Finite Characterization

The paper shows that there is no finite set of forbidden minors which characterizes classes of independence models that are representable by Gaussian, discrete and binary distributions, respectively. In addition, a way to prove the nonexistence of a finite characterization for any other class of independence models is suggested. MSC 2000: 60A99, 68T30, 94A15

Binary Constraint Satisfaction Problems Defined by Excluded Topological Minors

The binary Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP) is to decide whether there exists an assignment to a set of variables which satisfies specified constraints between pairs of variables. A binary CSP instance can be presented as a labelled graph encoding both the forms of the constraints and where they are imposed. We consider subproblems defined by restricting the allowed form of this graph. One...
